Yesterday we were touring a customer’s facility. We had not been there in a long while and were amazed at the change in the atmosphere. Staff on the production floor smiled at us and looked us in the eye. If nothing else teaches us, that taught us that management makes a big difference. We got a tour of the plant and then we were shown the new room where all the production statistics were up on the wall. It was clearly visible where problems were and where things had improved. Everyone on that production floor could see this. They could see where they made a difference and where things needed improving. WOW!! We were really impressed with how information was shared. All that stuff about the Baldrige awards and line of sight became very real right there.
It was disappointing to see that our old machines were the cause of some of their production problems but heartening to know that they were still running after 50 years and that we have options to replace those ancient wrappers.
This lead us to thinking about how we communicate.
We cannot tell you how grateful to our readers who like our content and tell us so. We just glow inside at the thought that someone would take the time to tell us we are providing useful information. It takes both motivation to go to the effort for responding to a blog and something that you are not embarrassed to say. Thank you so much to those who are not afraid to say something to us.
To those of you who have read our blog and want to say something less complimentary, feel free. If it is not vulgar or insulting, we will publish it. And try to address it!!
To our readers who want us to provide more or different information, please tell us so and we will do our homework and try to address your requests.
Clearly sharing information can have a major impact. We saw that yesterday in our customer’s plant.
Thank you.
